Day 4

Day 4

Day 4 had a forecast of rain after 3pm so the plan was to put the pedal to the metal for 8hrs then head home.  The picture shows more sheathing, which went up at the very end of the day, but the real work was inside.  I framed most of the loft floor except for the spot for the access hatch.  By the end of tomorrow I think I’ll have the first gable-end roof rafters in place.

The pace I’ve set for myself is fast and completely unsustainable.  I couldn’t possibly work this way on a day-to-day basis without breaking down.  It’s fun, though, and satisfying in the same way that running a marathon can be both of those things.  I’ve been fueling this schedule by eating handfuls of fruit and nuts washed down with either water, fruit smoothie, or coffee.  Sitting down or stopping for more than a few minutes just breaks my focus and momentum.  I know it sounds crazy, but it works.
